I am extremely proud to have this young woman designing under our flag. Vesselina Pentcheva is extremely skilled and this comes through frequently in her work. In her SAFW S/S 2011 collection she really seamlessly entwined her various skills in designing and garment construction.
Her 2011 show is a tribute to the Mexican artist Frida Kalho(which I found very interesting and beautiful) and this is clearly evident in the homemade embroidery and traditional feel of the dresses she designed. I loved her wedding dresses and I would do anything to have one. She certainly knows how to combine beading, corsetry and embroidery with a special touch and attention to detail. I thoroughly enjoyed browsing through her collection and I think she will be one of my favourite designers for a very long time.
